On a bin record there is a field "type" My options are: • Inbound Staging • Outbound Staging • Picking • Storage • WIP • None Will the bins behave any differently or is this just for analytical purposes?

hmm interseting, i don't have that field, but like you said maybe we only have the basic bin managment, but then we have item status by which we control if the item is available to use in Work order or sales order.

I don't really think it would have any impact on the functionality, it's like location has a type Warehouse or Store, I doubt it matters what is picked on there.

If you have the NS WMS and SCM mobile bundles enabled this will have specific functions Bins set to the Inbound Staging Type will show up for the users to select during the receiving check in process Bins set to the outbound staging type will show up for users to select during the picking process for sales orders to stage parts for fulfillment before shipment Bins set to WIP will show up for users to select when picking for work orders to stage parts for production before Assembly Build Bins set to Storage will show up for users to do bin transfers between, put away parts to, and pick parts from Not sure what the picking type is for. The NS implementation team just told me to “ignore that one”
