Does anyone know if a theme/colors can be set globally, and override personal preferences?
s
These are the only preferences you can restrict override permission

Thanks. Also, I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I have to ask because it was asked of me: Is there any way to customize the header of Netsuite (like where the Oracle/NS logos are and the Help/Search bar is)?
And can normal UI elements like Edit buttons be removed independent of user permissions?
s
I don’t think so
Yes you can remove the buttons on the form
When you customize the form one of the tab is action I think, click on that it will show you options you have
x
And colors of buttons can't be customized right? (Apologies for all the questions - One of my bosses is just learning that in NS, the large print giveth and the fine print taketh away)
s
I don’t think so 99.99% no
x
And in general, you can't do things like with CSS positioning on forms, right?
Unless say, you used an Inline HTML field/Rich text field, but outside of that no way to like, change the background
s
Hmm that’s out my realm of expertise,

my question is what is use case of UI theme customization? As @Suitestallion said 99.99% no, NS doesn't want users to tinker with UI. You can do some UI modification using suitescipt and dom but not recommended. https://www.techfino.com/blog/open-source-libraries-and-mvc-design-pattern-on-netsuite

@Sam-I-Am, the head of my department thinks *every*thing in Netsuite is/should be customizable. He wants it to have company colors/branding. I know you can stick a company logo in the upper left-ish area of the screen but he wants to go even further and like, change the shape/color of buttons and other things like that.

WOW!! Tell him nothing is impossible, get NetSuite instance on private cloud ☁️ not on multi tennant ☁️ and ask NetSuite to replace global UI template with a custom one, not going to be that expensive say couple of million dollars or so LOL........

Hahahahaha, is that actually possible? Not saying we're going to go down that route, but more personal curiosity 😛

Not that I'm saying it's a good idea but you can look into rolling out a custom stylesheet with a browser extension like stylish. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylish-custom-themes-for/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe?hl=en

@michoel I've actually kinda done something like that before just for fun. Made the background image the 90s paper cup design
