Is there a way to print the Assembly page after I have saved a build? I would like to add it as another state in my workflow that already sends an email after an assembly is built.
m
Like automatically send a print job to a printer?
Or just add a print link/button on the assembly build transaction?
a
automatically print. I tried to put in link app.netsuite.com/app/accounting/transactions/build.nl?id={id}&whence= and it would not accept it
m
To send a print job to a local printer on your network you would need to use a custom app/module for that...it is not native functionality
Summit IT has an awesome tool that does just this request
Or you can setup a customization to use print node
But netsuite can't communicate with local hardware/networks without a customization and workflows don't have a native action to support this

a
I imagine thats not a free service lol
m
that SummitIT print app does have a custom workflow action you can use to send print jobs via workflow
No it's not free
But it was the least expensive module I've ever used for Netsuite and was probably the best one with regards to service...it just worked perfectly all the time
I think they were purchased by RF Smart now though
a
speaking of RF Smart have you used it over Netsuite WMS? Pros? Cons? I am starting to look at barcoding my entire facility and bring us into the 21st century lol
m
Yes I have used both RF Smart and the NetSuite WMS
2 - 3 years ago I would have said that RF Smart was WAY better than Netsuite, but after recent updates the Netsuite WMS is getting closer
I think RF Smart is a nicer user experience for the warehouse team, but the core functionality is pretty close betweeen the two
What would you want to use it to do? -Cycle Counting -Picking -Batch Picking
-WO Completions
a
I only need 3-5 users for scanners I believe and the "seats at the table" approach compared to NS individual user access sounded better
yes to all
m
Do you use WIP work orders?
a
yes we are in the middle of setting it up now
m
Do you need to Batch pick multiple work orders at the same time?
a
can you give me an example? Not really understanding
m
Like if you have 3 work orders in your system WO 1, WO 2, WO 3...and they all use similar components and all go to the same work center, would you want to pick all 3 work orders at once, so your pickers don't have to pick each one individually?
Or do you just have 1 work order = 1 pick = 1 assembly build
(by "pick" i mean give your warehouse a pick list to go pick the parts from inventory)
a
I would say the first scenario just to be safe
there is only 1 WO at a workcenter at a time if that matters
m
Ok
neither solution can support batch picking work orders
a
oh I see now. Yes 1 WO 1 pick 1 assembly
m
ok
you can batch together multliple sales orders and pick them together to ship though
a
ANYTHING is going to be better than what we are doing now. We write so much stuff down its insane.
m
haha yeah....usually transitionoing into a WMS is pretty painful for most companies, but is well worth the effort
a
so much room for human error and having to decipher someone else's writing
m
I would honestly say the RF Smart is the better product, with better support overall, but just make sure to clearly define any/all custom processes up front with them so you can get it built into your solution. once deployed it's not super easy to customize RF Smart without using their professional services
🙌 1
I do have some contacts at RF Smart if your interested I can make an introduction
a
I already have been chatting with someone thanks though! the processes are pretty straight forward I just want to make sure that when we receive in product it was print barcode labels a certain way and when we produce our items it is a another barcode and then shipping out labels would also be different barcode labels
m
I see...yes with their acquisition of Summit IT RF Smart can support all that really easily...
thankyou 1
a
I would want to buy my own devices I think to save $$ and preferably be able to do most the setup of what prints where and how many myself
m
Yes you can use most devices with RF Smart...they have their recommended ones, but I've used tons of different ones in the past...iPads, Android tablets, old 1990's scanners, etc
Just need to make sure that it loads properly in the "browser" on the device
Also with the custom WFA that is part of the SummitIT print module, you can add a print job into any workflow you have and control, what it prints and to what printer it goes to...it's pretty cool
They usually setup all your templates and automation during implementation but you can also add new print automation via workflow as well
You do have to get good at ZPL if you want to be able to customize labels yoruself though
a
I used ZPL at Amazon so I am a a little familiar
but would rather have them setup all that and I just decide what printer and how many
m
Well if it moves forward let me know. Feel free to hit me up anytime with questions
keanu thanks 1
a
appreciate that!
