Using WIP and routing, is there a way to have the same work center but different amount of labor resources? I have a work center where labor varies per item. I want to keep the same work center for scheduling purposes, but ideally I can have different labor resources so the costs are correct.

Are you using Advanced Manufacturing?
b
No, just WIP & Routing

I may be off as our manufacturing process includes more than standard. Are you building Assembly items? Routing comes from the assembly item and a separate manufacturing routing should be created per item which is where resources like labor can be applied on the operation within the routing. Does your item record form include a Manufacturing subtab > Manufacturing Routings sub-subtab?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the routing record is associated with the BOM actually. The labor resources on the routing template are pulled in from the Manufacturing Work Center and cannot be changed from what I can tell, unfortunately...

Is the record type you are seeing the labor resource pulling from called an "AM Work Center" in the top left? If I understand, you are looking to correct flaw of head count being a static value when calculating rough cut capacity? Do you operate on Standard Cost? We do not currently run our rough cut capacity for scheduling but our costs are actually pulled from the manufacturing routing where labor resources are defined at the item level. I am new to this community on Slack. Your setup intrigues me.

Under the Operations tab of the WO, you can edit Operations Tasks where you can edit as well the resources under the Assignees tab. I think it v can be overridden in the WO Completion as well.

Yes @Luis is correct. You cannot dynamically change the routings or cost templates but you can manually update the labor resources per work order on the operations tab
