there is no option for the location sublist field. The only checkbox available is show

That doesn’t make sense by design. You must have a location on a sales order to pull stock from to fulfill the sales order.

Is this on a Vendor Bill? Is your multi-location inventory feature enabled? If so, then it's the culprit.

I was going to say that if you have location on line items then it’s definitely mandatory. You can hide that sublist field and then make the body field location active. Maybe that might work but it still doesn’t make sense.
