Anyone have experience with Sales Teams/Commissions in NetSuite? I have a question I’d like to validate….
I’d like to validate…. A sales team is a set of individuals that get associated to an order. From that association, it determines that they are eligible for commission on the given order they are associated to. The commission they earn is a factor of contribution i.e. 50% multiplied by the percentage in the schedule i,e, 10%, so when the items are fulfilled/billed, they will get 5%. AND that association on the order is what determines the eligibility. Which could come from territory management assigning them, or a sales controller manually adding those people to the sales order.. right? (trying to verify there isn’t some magical association that lives someplace else… that i’m not seeing)

That looks right to me.
Not that I'm a commissions expert by any stretch
of course - if that gets changed at the invoice stage from the sales order, you might have problems. Not 100% sure on that though.

I appreciate it.. Been reading help/suiteanswers for a couple hours, and sometimes I just need a confirmation that I’m thinking the right way before I go down a long rabbit hole…. 🙂
I wish every section/major feature had an overview page that talks about how things connect to each other. Commonly we have to look at 7-8 pages and piece them together for an overview.

Have you looked at the full user guide?
hold tight i'll get you a link

related to your comment, I think if the association changes up to fulfillment, things go ok, but if they change after, you have to recalculate commissions which there’s a process for.
k
Ok - here's an easy to reference link for all public user guides
There's a specific one that you would be interested in looking at:

oh wow, never seen this page. I think I’ve seen docs that might be referenced here
k
So that is made of up all the help articles that you can see in SUite Answers and in the help page
m
excellent, learn something new every day
k
the advantage here is that this is all in one shot
m
thanks for sharing that.
yea, absolutely. And it’s good to see what exists, as opposed to relying on keywords. thanks
k
It doesn't make it a ton easier to digest, but at least you can print it out and mark it up
m
yep, makes sense
k
You can get all those docs in the help center for what it's worth
the advantage is that I can use Ctrl F a little easier in them. Kinda sad that it's better than a Suite Answers search
m
Yea, I’ve come across them individually, but never seen the entire list
k
Just have to think about what "macro" area it falls under
m
yea, gives a framework of how to think of these “things”
k
i.e. I knew that was "sales force automation" not order to cash
m
The system is such a broad topic that it’s hard for a newbie to get that higher level picture. So this helps
k
Yup. I deal with newer consultants on a daily basis - and this is one of the things I show them.

Have you looked at something like Performio for commission calculation? Hit up @Kurtis Meloche...
