Why isn't netsuite transparent with their pricing?
k
Not to be overly cynical, but when you sell something with year over year values at a price level that is very high, it is not in your best interest to be transparent. Better to negotiate each deal independently as to have the smallest discount necessary to get over the finish line. All ERPs do some level of this.
c
I suppose. The most egrigious example of this seems to be for storage space. Digital storage space is very cheap, if you want more than 10GB it seems to run into the thousands of dollars
k
NS should be very transparent over additional storage costs as part of your license agreement.
However, that being said - NS prices their storage to encourage you to store it elsewhere. Storing files in a database is not cheap
c
Oh, they actually want you to store stuff elsewhere.
k
Right. Their specialty is ERP, not document management.
I highly encourage folks not to use NS for document storage. It should only be done in NS when absolutely necessary.
Your 3rd party add on with scripting? Probably necessary (though that size does seem disproportional compared to other scripts I've worked with)
Attaching a vendor's bill to the bill in NS? Probably not a great use of storage space if you can use a document management solution.

I'm on the services edition (not professional services) - and storage is not charged for us at all and won't ever. They just won't place that in the notes.
if you are public, that is not happening, they do want to charge for storage there
k
Not sure I understand what you are saying.
l
We have been told we will never get charged for storage in NetSuite. We hvae already exceeded our storage capacity of 10GB (which itself is a joke).
The services edition refers to the way they are selling NetSuite now. Previously it used to be Small business / mid-market / enterprise
c
We're a private company
l
What edition of netsuite are you guys on?
c
where can i find that information?
