We would like to assign certain vendors to specific user roles. For example: we have vendors setup from whom we buy products, we want the buyers to be able to have access to them. We also have vendors that are landlords, cleaning company etc. , we don't want the buyers to have access to them, just the accountant. I could not find how we restrict access to certain vendors for certain roles or employees.

You can create custom field with the same name and restrict based on criteria

We use the "category" Field located under Setup > Accounting > Accounting Lists > New > Vendor Category and have each vendor record defined as either "factories" or "services". then created searches for each role accordingly.
