Where is the email field on Project records? I can...

Where is the email field on Project records? I can get the value via SuiteQL by querying the Entity table. I can use the global search to find a Project if I enter the email address. I just don't know where the field is located or how to set the value.
s
I believe it utilizes the Email field under the Contact record under the Relationships subtab of the project record.
b
I'm able to get/set the value via SuiteScript without any related contacts or even a customer set on the Project
s
Got it. It appears the email comes in at a resource level; I just checked the schema browser for the Project Record here: https://www.netsuite.com/help/helpcenter/en_US/srbrowser/Browser2016_1/script/record/job.html
b
Wouldn't that mean that one of the resources on the Project should have that email address?
s
Yeah assuming they are assigned to a task on the project and it's active. Or affiliated on the project as a resource under resource listing
b
This is my test Project showing all the resources. I have entered the email address that is saved on this Project into the global search. You can see that it suggests the current Project when searching. You can also see that none of the resources have that email address.
Also, if I compose a new Message from the Project, it auto populates the Email Address field with the one from the Project.
s
I wonder if it is grabbing from that Customer record? I'm trying to see in my demo environment what I can find
b
I don't have a Customer set on the Project though
It makes sense why Projects have an email field since they are entity records just like Customers and Employees. It just doesn't make sense why NetSuite doesn't provide a user friendly way to get/set it.
s
🫢 you're right, my bad. That's what i get for brainstorming aloud
b
No worries. I appreciate you helping me think about it.
s
Check this out haha
idk where that is at, though
b
I found that too! If you customize a Project form, the "Email | Phone | Address" field group displays on the customize form page, but it does not display on the form.
Same with the Address field
s
Haha, using Google at its finest. When you global search that email in your test environment and show the results...does it yield anything there?
b
Actually, the Address field might show if you have a default billing address set. That might make the field group display too.
I'll check
s
1. Sounds like the Address field will show: "The Address field shows the default billing address from the Address subtab."
Hopefully not like needles in a haystack, but hopefully you can search that email and find all the records it's affiliated with to zero down where it's at in hopes of finding that field that is pulling in on project.
b
I've been playing around with another test Project too, so it now shows two results, but here it is.
s
Go figure..haha I'm perusing the Customization on the project form right now to try and find
b
I could create a user event script that dynamically creates an email field on the form in before load. I could have the email field default to the value of the standard email field. Then in my before submit, I could set the standard email field equal to the dynamically created email field. This would basically give the standard email field an interface.
s
It doesn't appear to be an easily accessible, nor flexible field, so an alternative as you suggested would probably be the most friendly route.
I dont see it anywhere in the GUI, bro, natively
b
Cool. If anything, you've helped me confirm that NetSuite is quirky here.
