Hi all, I am trying to understand an issue related to a dropship order - on the SO, it does not give us the "Fulfill" button -> I notice all products are on backorder here. I checked the PO where I see it is on "Pending Receipt" status -> when I try to click on the "receive" button on the PO, it gives me the error saying to select a location on the line item level on the PO-> Then I compared a similar dropship PO and I noticed that there is no Item Receipt under related records on the old dropship PO -> so this makes me think that on the dropship PO, we do not receive at all; we just fulfill the SO and it should update the PO's document status from Pending Receipt to Pending Billing. Is this accurate? If this is accurate, then does that mean that we have to first make the backorders go away on the SO in order to do the fulfillment? I have also confirmed that on the PO, the Ship To address is selected.

for drop ship items, the item fulfillment acts as the receipt for the purchase order and the fulfillment for the customer
for special order items, the item receiptreceived the item into your warehouse and then the item fulfillment ships the item to the customer
you should probably check that your dropped shipped item's purchase order is using the appropriate form

the PO & SO are on the same forms as the old dropship orders
b
have you tried fulfilling from the sales order?

You still have to have the "location" field filled out even if it never touches your inventory
It could be hidden on your Input forms, but you should not have that condition

But we had similar old dropship orders (which are fulfilled and billed) without location anywhere selected
Currently we do not see the Fulfill button on the SO- every item on the order is on backorder
Currently checking with NetSuite support the best approach to solve this
Okay, we did not notice earlier but the Link Type of the PO was "Special Order"; not "Drop Shipment" -> that helped nail down the real issue which was the type of PO created was not accurate-in our case it should have been Drop Shipment in the first place. Because it was created as a Special Order, it was expecting the PO to be received in a location first (which is not our process for any drop shipment) and then only it will give an option to fulfill. We came to know that it is easy for someone to create a Special Order instead of Dropship PO from the line item level on the SO, -> they are both one after the other, so it is easy to create a Special Order instead of a Dropship PO
