Can I somehow set a different unit type for a component qty in an assembly? Example: We buy Part A in 100' Rolls, but we only use 10' of that roll when building Assembly ZZZ. Though this example isn't bad... (we would just say we use 0.1 of the 100' Roll) sometimes we buy Part B in a 100 SQ FT Roll and use 6 SQ Inches in Assembly YYY. So it would be like .0000000002423. These tiny decimals are hard to calculate "on the fly". I really want our production team to be able to set the QTY to 6 SQ INCHES instead of .0000000002423 of a 100 SQ FT Roll. Any thoughts on this?

@ericbirdsall Have you tried setting up Unit of Measure conversions under Lists> Accounting> Unit of Measure ? And then on the Item Record use different UOM for Purchase UOM (sq ft) and Inventory UOM (sq inches)?

Yes, I did exactly that. But when I go to edit the Assembly and add the Item, the Unit Type is autofilled and not editable. It's in the base unit where I want it in another unit type 😕

might need to create a new item in the base UOM you want with the conversion setup? You cannot change bse UOM on an item once saved.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of lol

Appreciate your help on this

Actually its a good check and balance. Its a good thing - else all old transactions would have to be redone 😊

I'll use this to convince the higher ups to not have me do it lolololol.
