@ryanhowson I think some key questions will help you towards the right direction: - Do you have data outside of NetSuite that you need to report on? - Does everyone on your team already have a NetSuite user account licenses? Are they already familiar with NetSuite? - Does your team often combine data from a variety of record types to get insights?
r
Hey George, Yeah, we have data from our advertising platforms that we report on. Almost everyone has licenses, but not a lot of familiarity on basic reporting concepts. Yes - we're reporting from multiple record types
g
If you've got data in other platforms and your combining NetSuite record types together, then you'll want to stick with a BI platform like Looker. Specifically, NetSuite's reporting capabilities do not let you combine different record types, beyond their basic record join. NetSuite's reporting is best used for basic KPIs or quick queries.
I know Looker's not cheap, but it's very robust. Especially if you've got ad platform data. There's no way you'd be able to get that amount of data into NetSuite.
r
Funnily enough, I have set up a daily pull from our ad platforms into projects to power our revenue recognition process, but I wouldn't want to use NetSuite to then visualise that data
g
If the daily pull is aggregating the data, then it should be ok. But yeah, NetSuite's visualization capabilities leave much to be desired.
