Is it possible to create a workflow action that runs a saved search?

Sure, you could do this with a Custom WF Action Script. What are you going to do with the results of the search?

I need the workflow to run and then email the search when triggered. The resulting csv file will be used as an import file for another system.

Why not just create a scheduled saved search?

It's a timing issue for me. I need the csv file from the save search to get emailed as soon as a sales order that fit the requirements is created. I can schedule the saved search to run every 30 minutes but that would create a lag. @KevinJ of Kansas I lack the skill to create a script.

For what it's worth I find those highly unreliable for important business processes
