Does System Information not show if a value changed if the field is not shown on the form?

I have noticed inconsistencies with this before. I think it has to do with how the field is hidden on the form (set to

Hidden

on the field setup, the

Show

box unchecked on the form setup, set to show but on a tab that's hidden on the form, etc.), though I've never bothered to figure out which specific methods lead to changes showing in System Information or not.
