We need to change the account on our shipping items. We can't do it because it affects all open transactions, not just new ones. Has anyone had to do this before? Only way I can think of is to duplicate the shipping methods, leave the orig ones alone and use the new ones on new transactions.

have you tried locking the periods and then doing the account change? You may end up with one or two but then you might able to journal out the impact?

Yeah, we tried that but if there are open transactions the save fails and won't let us update the shipping item account at all.

I think NetSuite put out a new feature you can enable that allows you to change the accounts on items

It's under Setup > Accounting > Accounting Preferences. Items/Transactions subtab

heh, ours is ticked (and greyend out) but can absolutely confirm it changes the accounts
popup shows on save of the item, "Update accounts" - no way round it. Hadn't realised it was an option in accounting prefs so that's bugged
