for this to work the item must be available on both subsidiaries (per your comments seems it is). Customer should be assigned to both subsidiaries or to the second subsidiary if you just want that customer to add items from that subsidiary. Both subsidiaries should be marked as "online" in setup up website. In the website itself you need to change the subsidiary from the subsidiary button to the second subsidiary before adding the item to the cart.
