a lot of answers entirely depend on what you want to do going forward. As a migration solution you probably want to have a journal entry to be your rev rec source - unless you need to fulfill some of your items, then it is SOs only (+ invoice + payment if needed).
b
@Karina - thanks - fulfillment will be handled outside of Netsuite. At least for this initial phase. Once we do a complete replacement of the legacy system and integrate to the new third party, that may change for some items. Could you explain why we would want this:
As a migration solution you probably want to have a journal entry to be your rev rec source
thanks!

Hi @Betsy Barefoot - how much are you familiar with ARM process (revenue arrangements, item settings, etc)?
b
@Karina - very familiar with the item settings and rev rec rules. A little shakier on revenue arrangements but familiar.

aah, ok. DM for mid-flight revenue is not easy and entirely depends on your revenue set up; if you have items recognized on fulfillment you MUST use sales orders (if you still have to recognize revenue on those triggering events); everything else can be done via JE where you set up rev rec rules, customers, dates and amounts. you really do do do need to understand your revenue recognition set up in NS to have successful DM. Things also change if you have FV allocations…. Another words, there are a lot of considerations to be given before data can be migrated successfully

Hi @Karina - these aren't really mid-flight revenue migrations. It would be an ongoing, weekly import of transactions that originated in the third party. The set of items would probably only be two different revenue recognition rules: 1. upon start date; 2. start and end date prorate. I don't think we realized that we could set up rev rec rules on JEs. If we set up items we probably wouldn't make them fulfillable. You've definitely given us some things to think about - thank you!

you are welcome, @Betsy Barefoot! yes, ARM is very powerful engine, lost of options to consider
