Hey folks - We're exploring implementing resource allocations at our org... We've been poking around and I have 2 main questions that I'd love some insight on: 1. With generic resources, are you able to define an available allocation per day for a generic resource? For instance, if I have a generic resource for “designer” and I have 4 people that fill that role at the org, I would expect the available hours for that generic resource to be 32 hours per day (8 hours per day x 4 employees). 2. When it comes to an employee’s utilization, is there a way to specify a max utilization per day. In other words, a manager may only be available to work on projects for 4 hours a day. The obvious answer here is the “Target Utilization” field on the employee record, but remarkably this does not seem to have any impact on the resource allocation chart.   Appreciate any thoughts here!

I've found resourcing flawed in a number of areas in NS, really depends on the requirements. Re generic resources, this is really an 'individual' because the available hours come from the assigned work calendar ... and that has a max of 24 hours. With target utilization, this will feed through onto reports as 'Available Hours'. The other pain point you will hit is with work calendars as they only work in 'full days'. Lets say someone takes 4 half days next month, in NS those 4 dates are full days so it shows the resource is not available for 2 extra days which is incorrect. One of my clients is a service\time based org with 1000+ headcount so you can imagine the fun this causes. We have scripted around a lot of it, but if it were me I'd probably look at alternatives.

Interesting and disappointing. Really appreciate your response and insight here. Seems like some very glaring oversights.
