Is there a function in netsuite to enter “blanket orders”? (blanket order=a non-shippable order for a customer that holds inventory for them, and the actual shippable sales orders they place automatically draw down that inventory from the blanket order). I am aware of the supply allocation function, but that appears to be focused on single items, whereas I’m looking for a way to import a reservation to hold stock for a customer for up to several hundred sku’s at a time, for each month of an entire season. There has been a native function for this in all of the ERP programs I’ve used in the past, but so far have not found anything in netsuite. Am I missing or misunderstanding something? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

Advanced Procurement allows for blanket purchase orders, having said that for the sales order maybe you can use commit function so it commits to a sales order

Thanks--yes, I am looking specifically for a solution for the sales order, not the supply purchase order. I’ll look into the commit function. Definitely open to all insight!

Transaction > order management > commit orders. You can even create a saved search based on the criterias

commit orders function does not appear in that menu. We do have supply allocation turned on (being configured as we speak), I believe I read where the commit orders function does not work with supply allocation?
definitely open to other ideas or a njudge in the right direction

Can you move the inventory to a location or bin for that customer? This is the safest way I know of to protect inventory in this fashion.

yes, but doing it that way requires a lot of extra effort to manage sequestering the inventory while at the same time managing the timing of the inventory need with regard to managing cash flow. I would greatly prefer not to divide the main inventory for this reason. We are installing the supply allocation module now, and the reservations in that would work fine (and the consultant helping says this is the best way to do it) except I’m lead to believe they are only good for 1 sku at a time. I have a number of individual customers who give me a monthly forecast for hundreds of sku’s at a time and expect that the inventory will be reserved for them--this will result in having literally thousands of reservations to do this in a way that allows managing cash/inventory flow on a monthly basis. If the reservations could take multiple sku’s then would be a perfect solution, but I gather that isnt possible? I’m super surprised this functionality isnt basic in netsuite.
