has anyone experienced COGS issues using Lot Numbered Costing method? My COGS in my Item Fulfillments always uses Average Cost despite the Item record using Lot Numbered costing method. Ex. I tried receiving quantities in three lots then selling from 1 lot but the COGS is computed based on the avg cost of the three lots, not based on that specific lot.
k
How long did you give it to compute?
Any costing calculations running in a closed period?
b
The transactions were made about 2 hours ago and in the Inventory Costing Preferences, I have the costing calculation set to After Transaction Entry. Am I supposed to run the closing task for the COGS to appear correctly?
k
No.
Sometimes the costing engine takeas a while to run - this is doubly true if using Lot, Serial, FIFO, or LIFO settings
Does your account that you are doing this in have older transactions?
Costing Engine runs sequentially. If its stuck on an earlier transaction, it won't process on your newer ones.

I'm not sure if previous periods still have pending cost engine calculations. Is there any way to check that? In the period I'm working on, if I check the Review Inventory Cost Accounting closing task, there are no items left for cost calculation.
never mind it's updated now. I guess it just takes a while. Any tips on how to monitor the cost engine calculation?
k
That's probably easiest way to check - the other way to do that is to run an inventory valuation report with report title displayed
b
Can you elaborate more on how the inventory valuation report helps check the cost calculations? It might be difficult to check valuation per transaction if there's a lot. Also what do you mean with report title displayed?
k
Search in Suite answers for how to check. I don't know the SA article number.

I'll have a look thanks for the tips
I think I found what you're talking about SA 21161
Just tried it out and it does say it in the report. Neat trick! 👍

often add on the Item Record per location the field cost accounting status...
b
thanks! will explore it too
