@NSObsessed not exactly. An item can only be one or the other. It is not both. What the lot number gives you is the ability to track a group of items by transaction while the serial number gives you a specific item that can be tracked by transaction. You can have lot numbered items within a serialized assembly but not the other way around. Serial numbers are individual identity and lot numbers are group identity.
