(Cross-post from General) Has anyone here used the SuiteTraining On Demand Annual Pass for training courses? Interested in user experiences, was it worth the cost, alternative training solutions, etc..

yes i did. The trainings were really good. It does take quite a bit of time but the best part is you get a training account with every training.

I am about to starting in a few weeks, @Laura. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks! I'm looking for feedback if it's worth getting the Annual Pass vs. paying for individual courses (I could not find per-course-cost). $10,000 seems like a steep cost for web-based training, so I know I will need to justify my training requests to management 🙂

At my previous employee we got 4 of them for some new hires to get them up to speed quickly. I think over the course of the 12 months each new hire only managed about 3-4 courses. We did get a good discount on the list price though. I forget the details... are they $8k /person? I think we got 4 for $20k. I'd say they're good for people getting started - but the cost is incredibly high. If you're looking to get multiple I'd suggest just getting one - assign it to a single person and make them responsible for sharing the credentials as people need them. (they'd also have to forward any relevant emails to the person. NetSuite isn't very good about policing this.. I don't think they really care.

Thanks for your insight antoko... the training is for myself, and I am concerned about the value/cost because I am already quite knowledgeable about workflows and custom records (from using/maintaining our system for the past 2 years). I am trying to determine if it would be cheaper to take the courses individually (they do not have the prices listed online, so I don't know). Do you think the new hires did not get through many courses because they did not have time/learned so much "on the job" or was it because the netsuite courses were long/boring?
a
it was definitely due to time constraints because of workload, and you're right once you've become familiar with the system the value of the training is significantly less - I guess if you're moving into a whole new area there might be something worth learning - I'm technical so I'm only aware of the developer training, do they break training into functional areas? like accounting? inventory management? things like that? if your company expanded its use of netsuite to include new functionality like that then training would make sense, I'd think after two years in the system already you'd well on your way to knowing what you need to for your day to day, and you'd know how to make use of free resources to get answers you need.
I was at 3 years NS experience when we bought those passes, and could have got one too, but I didnt think it was good value for me. If there's specific courses that you think would be useful I think that's probably a better way to go.
If you cliick through to the course from this page it will show the list price of the various courses... some of them are quite expensive. http://www.netsuite.com/portal/services/training/suite-training/catalog.shtml
looks like its mostly driven by course length - its $800 /day for most courses
if there's one specific course (and it happens to be a short one) I'd say do that first to get a sense of the training. You should be able to tell how much value it offers just from that

all good to know, thx. I am working in NS now, but mostly as an employee and Support Administrator. I am proposing that I become the System Administrator, since no one else is managing more than one area (Sales, Finance, Support all separately managed). I know a lot about Support, but maybe not about the other areas ( but hey -you don't know what you don't know!)... I am hoping to get my company to pay for training and certifications. I've been through the catalog but couldn't tell what was relevant to our business setup... I'm concerned the $10k pricetag for Annual Pass will be scoffed at, but maybe if we can get a discount, they can justify it.
a
That's only $1,600 list price, and will give you insight into some of the areas you're less familiar with - and if certification is the goal then this is the course you'd want 🙂

That sounds perfect- great idea @Anthony OConnor

good luck!
