you can probably get by with regular username/password combination if you are using older wsdls, but you will eventually need to learn how to do tba

for SOAP and REST TBA is mandatory for specific roles and you can't setup TBA for admnistrators so that it's mandatory to define a role, an employee and configure TBA

The only exceptions are Suitelets and SS pages

Anyway it's really easy to setup TBA and postman
