@hdeshev not sure if you got your permissions question answer, but I have gotten errors like that at times when I am trying to set the value and the remainder of the record is not properly configured. For example, if you create a SalesOrderItem from an InventoryItem and want to set a custom price (that doesn’t match the price on the InventoryItem in stock), you have to first set the priceLevel to -1. So this isn’t really an answer to your question, but hopefully just a hint in things to look for.
