As anyone ever has the issue where you could not map fields to a CSV file while doing an import?

remove the special character in your csv file's column names and that should do it @Todd Juenemann

That pointed me in the correct direction, turns out the header fields had a soft return in each of them, so they had 2 lines, once that was removed, it worked.
