If a Work Order is closed, not Completed, does the committed inventory just automatically become uncommitted?

Mixed answer here - if there are lots/serials on it - they don't necessarily uncommit.

What happens if it's serialized/lot?

If you have assigned them to the order itself, the quantity uncommits but the lot/serial won't free up

How do you free up the lot/serial? Remove it from the inventory detail?
