Apologies for my incompetence. I'm not yet familiar with saved searches on WFs. How does a saved search update the second custom field?

Nothing to apologies for :smiley:  When you create the workflow, instead of choosing Event Based, you can select "Scheduled". Just make a saved search with no criteria to run on all records.
