We have a series of "official" financial reports. The names are all prefixed with "SOX" and a control number. Changes to these reports are supposed to be tightly controlled but we've run into an issue.

When a user with the ability to create custom financial reports makes a copy of an official report, these reports share the same layout. If the user then modifies the layout on their copy, it updates the layout on the official report.

Is there anyway to stop this?

I don't think so unfortunately. The controls around reports are not great. I think your only option is to lock down and centralize the ability to create custom reports, which I know is not ideal.

Or just train people to switch the layout, which obviously they'll forget on occasion, so that's not great either.
