does anyone know how you can pull in the "itemimages" field under the Associated Images tab into a saved search? It is not a custom field and not available to select in a saved search

I am not aware of it being available to saved searches. The best way to script it is with the item search API or SuiteQL

thank you for the response. I'll check with our developer if they can find a way to identify which items do not have images showing.
