Is it not possible to use lists as a facet?  So I have a custom list Height Range.  It shows up in the facet view correctly with all the ranges, but when you click on it, it doesn't return any results.  I am sure that the value is set correctly on item records.  Also it appears that Free Form Text fields are not supported, because in the Setup it doesn't even give me the option to select a Free Form Text field (I converted the list into a text field)

Its seems to be working when I set it as a URL parameter.

But not great, for instance when I do it with another list its not filtering correctly.  Also multi-select behavior seems to be a little weird
