Has anyone else noticed that NetSuite has decided to put all site builder websites (that pass DNS validation) on the Akamai CDN? This seems so crazy to me. 15 years without a single bug fix or new feature, and now they roll out a secret CDN? why wouldn't they at least tell us what they are doing? Here's a way you can find out - ping your hosting CNAME. It's in the format www.domain.com.hosting.netsuite.com. The first line will say 'pinging shop.source....netsuite.com' or 'pinging xxxx.akamaiedge.net'. If it's the latter, surprise! You're on the Akamai CDN. It's possible that this could be a good thing, if it were done correct. This would require: • full access to all CDN settings • bare minimum would be to clear the cache • include an interface for all the other critical CDN functions - controlling what is cached, reporting on activity and bots • ability to configure bot fighting, block IPs or countries • image and protocol optimization I doubt NetSuite has any plans to give us any of those features, since SuiteCommerce has had a CDN for 10+ years and the only thing you can do is clear the cache and add a header.

You and I have already talked about this, but, to be clear, Site Builder sites are on the CDN but they're not currently providing caching. There is open enhancement request for introducing caching on Site Builder sites that we are considering. The primary reason for doing this is improving the quality and security of the service by, for example, enabling us to better monitor traffic and block bots (as you note).

We talked about SuiteCommerce but not the new Akamai for site builder... is there an announcement somewhere I missed, or some kind of documentation on this new change? It's a pretty significant change to the hosting for site builder, and I support dozens of SB sites. It would be nice to know what we should expect from this, how it might affect search engine indexing, page speed, security, and of course how it affects 3rd party CDNs. I have a bunch of companies that still haven't been granted an exception from the new 3rd party CDN ban, and some of the sites are now failing when I try to enable Cloudflare on them. I expect this is because of the Akamai change, so it sure would be nice to see some documentation.

If we were to introduce caching for Site Builder, then I would expect there to be documentation – but for infrastructure change like this, it is not reasonable (in my personal opinion) to publish a release note as it doesn't represent a significant change to the product or service. On the impact that it might have to your expectations: • Indexing: none • Page speed: none • Security: better • Third-party CDNs: never officially supported, so it might interfere with them

I would point you to the existing documentation on this matter, which says "CDN services are not supported for Site Builder websites": https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_N2598355.html
Site Builder is supported by NetSuite but, it does not receive significant updates to its technology or feature set (and hasn't for, I don't know, 10 years or more?). Generally speaking, I would encourage any customer who's frustrated by this to use a more modern product, such as SuiteCommerce.
Any customer who wishes to stay on Site Builder and use CDN caching services, I would recommend raising a case and asking the support rep to assign it to issue 817025.
