We have a OneWorld customer with 6 subsidiaries that due to a takeover wants to invoke a new clean Netsuite instance, same functionality without the historical transactions. I assume It would be a netsuite account management job for the new instance but is it even easily possible?

FWIW I had a client migrate from an existing NetSuite instance to a brand new one because of an acquisition/merger many moons ago. Was essentially just a full on implementation as usual, NetSuite didn't provide any help or way to move thing over or migrate accounts in any way, even with an extensive back-and-forth and willingness to pay for it. Of course this was way back in the day, so maybe things have changed, and even if they haven't you should be able to use SDF to at least make it slightly easier. Also bear in mind, they still may be legally be required to maintain some kind of history for tax and other legal purposes, so you might need to retain/export the history in some fashion anyways.

in 2016 I had to split a company into two entities which had 11 subsidiaries in 10 countries with over 800 employees. Needed to create brand new instance for new company. NS professionals team took on the job and failed after paying them over 120k we fired them. My team and I did the full split then migrated the split data to new instance. Some cases transactions had items that belongs to sperate entities - splitting was nightmare. It took 4 months 16hr days for 3 of us to prepare the data migration, then involved rest of the team to do the platform migration (rest of the team where not aware of the split till the right time and we signed NDA's so couldn't tell them either). Netsuite did showcased our case in 2017 suiteworld. https://netsuiteprofessionals.com/blog/question/resources-or-best-practices-for-merging-two-netsuite-instances/

@James Morris & @Sam-I-Am thanks for the feedback. I agree it's the type of thing that could be structured like the NS Development copy. All the functionality without the data. But even working through this I know the customer will have enough things they will want to keep...then I have the various current integrations with other platforms. In another account I recently deleted at customers request 7 years of a transactions, items, customers as they were not needed in the new business. That was also messy. Might be a case of budgeting for a new clean implementation and throwing out lots of bathwater.

clean implementation is the best options, otherwise garbage goes in and .....garbage comes out
