More of a rant than anything, but WHY on earth do they not have an option to make the name field optional on custom records? I have so many record types where I want a name field but it's not always required.

I have a case when I don't need name, e.g. when creating a child record

I do as well. I just think they should have two check boxes here 1) Include Name Field and 2) Make Name Required
