Also if your plan is to print on blank check stock, make sure you get your specifications sheet from your bank and follow them very closely. It was a real PITA to get the MICR letter placement/spacing correct as it's very specific and the variations between printers/paper stock can be enough to throw it off and force you to re-adjust. Last piece of advice: it took a long time for the bank to send the test checks back after we mailed them in for verification (like a week each time (and we had to send in 4 rounds of them)), so just make sure to leave yourself plenty of time for that process.
