Hello again #C30TUASAX, does anyone know how to have the cost of actual time tracked and posted against a project based on the service item cost? Instead of being based on employee estimated cost? • The projects will usually be fixed bid, so the cost does not impact the SOs or Invoices. • The tracked time will post credit to direct labor and credit to direct labor, so no GL impact. • goal: when we look at the cost and P&L of a project, we want to see the cost of hours worked on a service item, even if an engineer does 4 hours of mopping floors, and we pay the engineer $100/hr, we only want to cost the project $25/hr for mopping. I've been reading and playing with this for a while and not finding an answer. Very much appreciate your help!

if you use labor rates from employee records that’s what goes on the project; there is no option to change rates - unless you set them up as $25 vs $100 in the employee record. Seems that’s what you need. Perhaps scripting provides for this variation

Hi @Karina yes that is what I found when using job costing. Setting it on the employee record doesn't work because if they were again doing engineer work the cost should be $100. I have turned off job costing and turned on advanced project profitability. This seems to allow me to cost according to service item cost instead of labor.
