Why would adding a global permission to an active user cause the system to ask to add a new license?

You must be over your license count from another user so editing any employee record will now trigger this alert
Check Setup > Company > Billing Information

@MGBC we encountered that as well before. But why did it happen in the first place? Why were we able to save a new employee record with access that exceeds that license count?

Usually it’s because your licenses count changed with a recent renewal

That's the weird thing. Our license counts has not changed. But that's okay. Not the end of the world. Was just curious.

Same thing here. Employees only. I was able to get the edits done by scrubbing access from someone who hasn't logged in for sixty days.
