We have 7 subsidiaries. We've been asked to create a new one. After the new one is created we need to copy (not move) ALL data from one of the subsidiary to the new subsidiary. I'm expecting a lot of hurdles but is there's a 'procedure' to do it ?

Why Copy? If this is to with Subsidiary restructuring just enable subsidiary hierarchy modification and move subsidiaries across.

Why copy ? They want to start a new subsidiary completely independant of the original one. They will stop doing any transactions to the "old" subsidiary, all transactions will be done with the new subsidairy They want to keep the old subsidiary as references

So what data do you need to copy?

The GL Accounts, customers, vendors, items, etc... In reality everything but transactions. Does Netsuite has a procedure for that ?

You can do a mass CSV update to add the subsidiary to all those entities.

Can we assign more than 1 subsidiary to a customer ?

Yes

When you inactivate a subsidiary all that data is still sitting where it was recorded; data does not go away when you inactivate a subsidiary. When you complete your copying you will screw up the consolidations. Just start a new subsidiary and explain your “askers” why.

There is a tab in the bottom with subsidiaries

There is a field for primary subsidiary, where you can add only one. Then there is a tab with subsidiaries, where you can select add than one
