My customer is moving from SAGE to Netsuite. They are 'stuck' on SAGE customer deposit and want the same thing in Netsuite Let me explain what is happening in Sage and let me know if it's there in Netsuite At noon, they go to their physical mailbox, pick up the Checks, let say 10 checks from different customers. First they use their calculator and add up the total amount of all the check Then they go to Sage, they have 2 screens. First screen, they enter the total amount check, give a name to the receipt like "Thursday 04/04/2024", a few other basic info and they click Next The second screen, they enter invoice number that is on the lower part of the check, and Sage show the customer along with all the invoice number and save Then they move to the next check, next check, etc.. At the end, when they save, the program make sure that the amount of all the checks equal the same amount with the starting amount (first screen). Do we have something similar in Netsuite ?
l
that's not customer deposit, that's applying payments to invoices
k
Yeah, customer deposit is a separate functionality in NS. What you do here in Netsuite is called “payment application”. and yes, you can see all that in NS
s
Applying payment will work but will it give her a total of all the checks for that day ?
k
yes - you need to create a saved search for that
not what is done usually in NS though but ok. there is also cash recon process - you can see it there
l
yeah, with erp, who punches on calculators?
k
and just in general - NS offers waaaaaaaay more they have in Sage.. exactly like @leo_ns said, calculator vs ERP
s
@leo_ns I agree with you but she will do everything she can't to stop the project 😞
l
tell them the purpose of erp is to make business scalable. do so by streamlining processes and eliminate human errors blah blah. they can punch calculator for 10 checks. how about 500, 5000 checks a day? how many more calculator puncher they need? how many errors can they accept? they need a new VP finance, VP ops.

is she the business owner's wife 🤣
s
No but you know how it is. She's been there for years, she is very difficult to work with, thus everyone around her leave. She is the only one knowing how it is working and they can't upset her. They think that if she leave the sky will come down 🙂 I will propose to create a "module" exactly the way she want. She will be super happy, But I will know, that it's wrong 😞
s
facepalm darn! why create customization for convoluted process, when you can use built in automated process in Netsuite. Is it Sage 50 or 300? Not likely Sage X3
s
If I'm not mistaken, it's Sage 150 but I can be wrong
s
That so old - era of dinosaurs
l
BRD says calculator is a hard requirement.
s
Sage 50 or 100 is glorified ACPAC on AS400 - Calculator is must LOL
l
as400. wow those black and green computers.
wow. never noticed sage's color is black and green🤣
k
She know NS replaces her LOL

I've talked to her this morning and she brought a good point. Everyday also received payments from LockBox, some ACH, some credit cards. Sometime, she gets more than one a day She said that she does different Deposits. At the end of the day, she knows, how much she got by checks, by lockbox, by ACH by Credit Cards Can we get the same thing in Netsuite ?

you have saved search for everything (=“she knows”) and you can also do it via bank recon - I bet she does not reconcile bank daily (which can be done systematically if amounts match)….
s
Why not just add a custom list field with all the deposit type, so when she creates a deposit select a type, that all she needs. Create a saved search for deposit using the deposit types as criteria and create a tile/portlet on her dashboard to show a running total of all the deposit type. Or just ask her to get an old calculator with printer so she can tally is manually LOL🤣🤣
l
it better to be a dot matrix printer
s
Dot matrix would be too advanced
