Hi everyone, how do you deal with revenue recognition projects that involve mixed types of billing (time-based and milestone) when the system is consistently inaccurate? For instance, consider a sales order with two lines: Item1: time-based - 80 hours x $100 = $8000 Item2: milestone - $4000 (80 hours) Both generated for the same project. If I log 10 hours on time-based tasks and finish the milestone, my progress will be: 90/160 = 56.25% This means I will recognize for the time-based item 56.25% * $8000 = $4500. Which is entirely incorrect... Thanks in advance!

you must set separate rev rec rules on the project (for time and milestone), setup resources, record your time, etc. then you run charges. Milestone is independent of hours so your time recorded should only impact hours. Sales Order will pick up your charges - if it is set up correctly - as separate lines. If it is not set up correctly, delete the charges and re-do your configs

Hi Karina, Thanks so much for your feedback! Could you please tell me more about how to create multiple rev rec rules on the project ?

in the help section Projects > Project Management > Project Billing > Charge-Based Project Billing >Project Revenue Recognition (link likely will not open so use the path)

oh, charge based projects must be enabled for this. I think you do not have it enabled

Yes, I have it enabled, but creating revenue rules for each project manually is quite time-consuming. I think we will opt for customization by using the override revenue recognition sublist at the project level and recalculating the real percentage of progress…
