Hello everyone. I’m offsetting the negative inventory for the full year using the import assistant for Inventory Adjustments. It’s a time consuming process as I will have to check negative inventory day by day using the negative inventory in the main menu / inventory. Is there any customized search report that I can extract the negative inventory quantities in order to offset through import assistant. Thanks
g
You can use custom Suitelet to get negative inventory list and can download it as CSV
d
Hi Dennis , thanks for the response. Custom Suitelet? Where can we find the feature?
g
Deploy a new Suitelet page which runs as same as saved search. but specifically developed for showing negative inventory quantities
d
How to deploy ?
g
need to develop suitelet first, upload to file cabinet, create script record, and deploy it.
d
Oh ok , needs development. Is there any other way using saved searches or reports to identify these negative inventory items and produce them in a list?
g
yeah, we can use saved search
d
Tried to do that, but never been able to match saved search report with the negative inventory report. It could be I’m not using the right fields. It’s crazy to go day by day check the negative inventory sheet with multi locations
g
what's the problem?
you can't get whole list?
or can't get some fields?
d
I can’t get the saved search right to match the negative inventory showing from the transactions menu
g
I see, you can't get whole negative inv list
might used wrong filter
can you show me your saved search?
d
g
It couldn't work
s
Did you try quantity less than 0 in criteria?
d
Yes I did, no result at all showing
s
just do it for the last day of the year, you don't need to do it for each day, it should take care of it, but you will need to do it for each location, which can be cumbersome
d
Thanks Suitestallion, I do usually for the last day of each years but I notice that negative inventory still showing in each period days and months! That may interrupt accounts closing of periods !
@Suitestallion hi again, have you witnessed negative inventory in previous periods even when you do IAs at the last day of the year?
s
I don’t think I have, maybe you want to open support case with NetSuite and see what they say
a
@David - What type of inventory is this? Lot Numbered, serialized, or neither? The issue you are running into is that NetSuite Page 'Negative Inventory' captures the on hand inventory when using the 'As Of Date'. Saved Searches have this limitation and you are not going to pull the on hand inventory As Of Date without using a SuiteQL query linked to a Suitelet page. I would create an Inventory Balance search with the Criteria filter set as Formula: Numeric | Location Qty On Hand | Is > Qty 0 . Then download the CSV and create a CSV import to whatever qtys are required to get the balance for each item up to Qty 0. I wouldn't get hung up on the exact Date the on hand qty went negative. The adjustment you make as of today will bring the qty up to 0. Personally I would be more worried about finding the root cause(s) for why the inventory is resulting in negative qtys in the first place.

@Andrew Altringer thank you for the info. The inventory item is neither a serial or lot. I will try creating an inventory balance search as you suggested. The negative or underwater inventory is due to the package item linked to inventory items that deduct from inventory asset every time we have a sales to package item in locations that do not have inventory at the first place. It’s a health care setting with multi locations / clinics however procedures are usually do run one location only
a
@David - You can adjust your Commitment & Fulfillment settings to where it won't all you to go negative or underwater anymore.
d
Thanks Andrew, but this will prevent / block invoicing certain service items
a
@David - Not if you uncheck the Fulfilled/Received option on the Item record of the Service item.
d
How do we capture the cogs for kit package items then if we don’t fulfil?
a
Ok so are you talking about Kits or Service items? Or the Service are making up the Kits? Yeah I am not a fan of the Kits one bit.
d
I’m talking about kit items that are services / procedures rendered to patients with cost components (inventory items)that needs fulfillment
