Does SuiteBilling have any advantages over Zone Advanced Billing (ZAB)?
s
Netsuite is now a days pushing the zone billing. My current company is looking into Zone on NS's recommendation. One my client spent over 150K with NS professional services to setup suitebilling and ARM, in the end after 2 years everything was abandoned. @creece was one of main dev for zone billing when he worked at Zone

ITs hard to say something without specifics on what you need it for and where. Suitebilling is limited availability RoW so unless you are in the US you really should look for alternatives
l
Our subscription business is ever changing, so whichever is more flexible and more features will work for us.
p
If that includes international expansion or something like that I would also look into Zone. I wanted to provide some alternatives but struggling to think of any I can recommend based on experience. You could really consider any SaaS platform and just pull journals into netsuite or if you have an integration engine, candidates with turnkey adapters.
l
Thanks. With regard to third-party SaaS, our concern is that we won't be able to run the reports within NS if we only pull in the journals unless we create custom records and all sorts of that? But this is our current scenario to be honest, we use third party subscription platforms like Recurly
p
There are trade-offs for sure, but in many cases there would still be something outside of Netsuite and to be honest any proper BI platform is better at visualizing this. Reporting across currencies is also somewhat of a pain in netsuite unless you introduce fixed rates - you will have moving parts in your reports even if e.g. sales didn't change. In the ideal world having everything within the suite would obviously be nice but it is a tall order to achieve right off the bat.
l
That makes sense. What's the point of using SuiteBilling and Zone Billing if we can't run our desired reports.

It depends what other functionality you want to get out of ZAB. It's not a pure reporting tool.
But you can probably get the reports you want. Just not as nice as an actual reporting solution.
People often pick ZAB if they have recurring/subscription billing and advanced revenue recognition requirements.

@Sam-I-Am I had 0 to do w/ zone billing actually. That was all another guy that worked there and the CEO
I did work on 360's subscription billing stuff though years ago
If I were going to get one myself as a business owner I'd go w/ zone though just knowing what I know unless 360 kicked it up.
