We are trying to create Manufacturing Cost Templates and would like to replicate what was in a lab. In the image there is a base rate of LAB00025 followed by burden and overhead etc. I am not able to do this in our production system. We have been using NS for years but are just starting to get into Manufacturing. Thank you.

I guess you already created the cost categories. But have you created the manufacturing charge items (could be other charge, service item, etc.)? LAB00025 is a manufacturing charge item assigned with a default “purchase price” of 25/hr. You have to specifically tick the manufacturing charge item box, link it to the corresponding cost category, and assign the default rate per hour at the minimum. The item is also limited to one subsidiary only (so you have to create multiple versions of them in case multiple subsidiaries need it).

Thank you. I did create the charge items and assigned a default price. Checked the box and linked. Also only in one subsidiary. At the top of the image the cost category is blank. That is what I would like to do.

Why would you want to make it blank though? Is the screenshot from a demo or test account? I also have the same experience but I wasn't bothered because it does not make sense to not have a cost category.

We have come to the same conclusion. I can see a use for it but that is besides the point. I can do it in a test system and not a live system and cannot understand why. Thanks for the assistance, we have moved on.
