I know you can load budgets in NetSuite. Does anyone have a "load forecast" app or extension they are using in NetSuite without actually using the NetSuite FP&A extension you purchase?
j
If you're using the native budget functionality and you're okay with what's there, just add another "budget" as a separate budget category labelled forecast or whatever you want to call it. If you're looking for additional functionality, you'll probably have to pay for something whether nspb or 3rd party.
c
Yeah were good with just using the budget extension and just calling it something different I think
It may be overkill to develop a custom page that is the same as the budget page just to call it forecast
j
and you know you can load via CSV, correct?
c
Yup!
Haven't used it yet but I'm sure I'll figure it out
j
Yeah, it's not as slick as the normal csv import process (you have to use a specific template/field ordering) but it works fine, just means more pre-work in excel
c
I just looked at the template..Looks weird
j
It pretty closely mirrors what the manual entry screen looks like. You will usually will only use 12 of the period columns if you go by months. I'm not sure why they bothered to put in the second line of "Enter xxx". Would make more sense to ignore it if you're not actually going to put in some sample data. But yeah just delete everything except the headers and start entering your data in the subsequent lines.
c
Is your company using the budget tool as a forecast tool as well?
j
No, but my last place did, sort of.
