I'm looking for a list of records that support parent/child relationships. I am trying to set up a relationship with the Inventory Number record as the parent, and a child serial number notes record. I created the linked field, but it won't allow me to select the Record is Parent checkbox.

In my experience, this has required pretty significant scripting since you'll need to execute upon this record with every inventory movement transaction (bin, inv adj, fulfillment, receipt, work orders, etc)

I don't necessarily need it to track all of that. Most of the stuff I would be putting on there would be sublists based on saved searches. For some of the fields, I will be using a workflow to populate the information.

You are correct - the record has to be scripted for being a parent.
