How can you set up inventory items to track quantities of items in a warehouse, but the inventory items are not actually owned, it is owned by a client. Do not want the inventory values on the balance sheet, but have to be able to track quantities in each location

No, because we need to know the cost of the item for jobs/projects

What about creating bins or locations specifically for these items? Then In the financial and inventory reports you can just filter these dimensions out as needed. That way you can still access the quantity and cost if you want.
