Anyone have experience reclassifying transactions via an allocation schedule? This is the case - a client has several employees currently associated w/ the wrong class. They want to reclass all transactions related to these employees for the past couple years. I’m debating whether to have them book a JE vs. using an allocation schedule.

Personally I wouldn't use allocations for this. I would just build a saved search to grab all the entries and then create a JE to update it. Or potentially use Celigo's Cloud extend for excel tool to overwrite the values if the client wanted to change them in their original periods. Feels like a lot more work to get allocations to do this. I have never tried to pick up entries in the past with allocations so cant comment on whether it would work. Also it sounds like it would be hard to pick up the exact entries to change. Would there not be correct entries against that class that you wouldnt want allocated?

Chris from CloudExtend here (tks for mention @Steve Campbell). @_ludlow the same search can be used to bring those transactions into Excel where they can be reclassified and pushed back so they are tied to the original entry. Some of this may be depend on the ability to manage transactions in closed periods. Sounds like there is no G/L impact. DM me and I can put you in touch with someone who can help with a free trial. This one is super easy.
