I heard one of the partner suggested there is account forwarding capability in NetSuite, I never heard of that e.g if itโ€™s 41000 now itโ€™s 40000
s
Not sure about account forwarding, never heard of it even. What you are trying to do?
s
The company that I work for now , bought a company in 2017, but chart of accounts were never consolidated because they were the only one using NetSuite, now we are bringing other subsidiaries on NetSuite and we are trying to create one chart of account rather than per subsidiaries but there are some accounts will be merged but those accounts have transaction and they are on item record
I hope I m making sense

Can you not create an offline mapping file? That's what most people do, so that if you're trying to map historical financials.
s
Merging them should be fine because It is used to combine all the transactions from one account to another. You can merge one account into another if they are the same account type.
s
Yes but when you change the account number on item record system is going to yell
If we do offline mapping we have to keep doing it forever right?
j
I would do the offline mapping, and THEN merge.
If you don't have offline mapping, you'll never know how to match up historic financials.
If you use merge, you shouldn't have to change any accounts.
It should do it for you.
s
hmm, I have the Excel with New account and Old Accounts, that's how we figured which accounts needs renaming and which accounts needs to be created

so for example we want to make this one account, so you are saying if one of these is on item record, it will update automtically?
