Getting an unexpected error when generating a revenue arrangement - there is two items on the order and when entered individually they generate an arrangement correctly but when on an order together the arrangement is generated but no allocation is done and an unexpected error is given
k
what is “unexpected error”? is it literally?
they are many things that could go wrong - particularly on each item’s record
n
^
could be fair value formula
a
Poor description on my part - but yes it is 'An unexpected error occurred during this process'
k
yes, it is fair value related. Allocation is not calculating correctly 😞 more details on your rev rec processses are needed to understand further
n
can you post your fair value formulas here?
k
also helpful if you post your Allocation column data from Revenue Element

Thanks for your help I think I may have found the issue - the parent kit item was set to 'default as delivered' along with components to use the residual method, unchecked the default as delivered box for the parent item and now the it is allocating and no errors
At least that is the only change I made last night and now when I opened the order it is allocated 🤷‍♂️
k
yeah! 🙂

I may be getting myself wound up for nothing but actually the issue was with the Allocation Type. I currently have the kit parent allocation type set to Normal, and the components set to software and this is how it looks on the arrangement. It is successfully toggling the residual method.
If I set the allocation type on the components to normal and the arrangement looks the exact same the residual method is not toggled. May be me not understanding the Allocation Type thoroughly enough that created this issue
k
well, there isn’t much difference between “normal” and “software” really, they should allocate in the same manner
if you “exclude” then it will not allocate
what does your %% column show?
a
I need the allocation type to set software to utilize the residual method, no? The bottom line is using VSOE pricing
k
Aaah, yes, VSOE, 605 stuff… otherwise the allocation % is fine
a
And the actual allocation - I guess my surprise is that allocation type is normal while residual = T
