Hi. Is there a way to change the “native” Subsidiary field on a project record from single to multi-select? Or would I need a custom field and source the subsidiary field? The reason for this is there is a requirement for that single project for tracking internal costs that spans more than one subsidiary. So instead of creating two projects and managing those separately they are looking to manage that in a single project. costs If there is a different way to handle this scenario feedback would be appreciated.

Enable the Intercompany Time and expense feature.

@AI1 is that gonna be applicable to all transactions? Isn't that for Expense Reports and Time Entries only? Thanks.

Yes that is correct it is only for time and expenses. I wasn't sure what costs you book against projects. We have the exact same issue so we needed up making 4 project records for every 1 project we sell (we have 4 subsidiaries). Then I created a custom record that was a “master project” that is a parent of those. So we manipulate the master project record and it keeps all 4 project records in sync Kind of complicated but NetSuite has some pretty big limitations when it comes to this

Thanks @A1 is there any reporting/ GL or other downstream impacts to reporting with that approach?

I think you need to look at this from the transaction side not the project side. It’s the Subsidiary on transaction records that determine where the costs get counted not the Project subsidiary. If you need a custom field…. not sure you do…. it on the transactions.

@ZAga yes this was a very complicated setup to get working as NetSuite had a lot of "gotchas" along the way. The main one with reporting was trying to pull together transactions from 4 different project records. However, once I added the parent "Master Project" that made things much easier. I would recommend the Master Project (or whatever you want to call it) if you are taking this approach as that made reporting much easier. Couldn't use the native Job Costing and Budgeting/Project Profitabliity reporting at all because no one could manage the 4 projects and aggregate everything together properly, but outside of that it was working well. Plus if you make your Master Project a custom segment you can use it in financial reporting
