Is there a way to add a custom field the a classification record?

Yes you can convert a custom segment (classification) into a custom record and add any custom fields you want to it

You can also go to Customization &gt; Lists, Records, Fields &gt; Other Record Fields to add a field to the Subsidiary, Class or Location records

Is there any reason we'd want to keep the segmant as a segmant?

It will always stay a custom segment, it will just link it with a custom record so you can put more fields on to it

Much nicer than creating a custom record mapping that only I know exists.
